TWO PACK CHROMATE ETCH PRIMER TO BSX 32

IP Code No - IP9064/4853 & IP9064/4854

OMAT No - 774A

Product Description -

Two pack acid based chromate etch primer for use on metal surface that have had no chemical pretreatment but have only been degreased. The etch primer combines controlled surface etch together with the deposition of a chromate rich corrosion inhibiting film which keys into the metal surface and furnishes an excellent foundation for subsequent finishing coats. Water proof, this coating is designed for use in conjunction with other BSX's (27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and DTD 5555) or on its own.

Performance -

Tests on primer only include 168 hours water immersion (BS3900 G5), Filiform corrosion resistance 1000 hours (BS3900 F13), and 1 mm cross hatch adhesion. When used in conjunction with top coat or primer and top coat performance is greatly enhanced.

Application -

Optimum shop temperatures are between 16 and 21ºC (60-70ºF) with a relative humidity of 35-75%. Cease spraying iff temperature falls below 15ºC (60ºF). The material should be at shop temperature prior to mixing. Pot life is approximately 8 hours, this is reduced if shop temperatures exceed 21ºC (70ºF).

Before application of the primer thorough cleaning of the substrate is vital. Once mixed always stir if the primer has been left to stand. Conventional or airless spray one coat and allow to air dry for 1 hour before over coating to give a dry film thickness of 8-12 microns. Force curing to 5-10 minutes at 120ºC (250ºF) is permissible after a short flash off.
