Approvals/References/Specs -

MSRR 9134, NATO STOCK NO 99 1925127
IP9134 (Alternative to PL165) Used in conjunction with PL163 - [for example coating magnesium on the inside of the European Fighter Aircraft gearbox at temperatures up to 300ºC (570ºF)]

Performance -

IP9134 is tested on magnesium, aluminium and steel to the following minimum specification. Actual performance is far in excess of the following:

  • Heat resistance 100 hours at 300°C
  • Salt water fog 100 hours ASTM.B117
  • Skydrol 3 hours at 70°C (160°F)
  • Heat/salt water fog 250°C (480°F) / humidity / salt water fog - 10 cycles
  • Hydraulic fluid 100 hours at 150°C (300°F)
Application -

Degrease, abrasive blast and pretreat as per individual specification. Heat the object to between 120 and 150°C immediately prior to painting. Spray one coat on to a heated object, when the object temperature reaches 60ºC return it to the oven and reheat. The coating shall then be stoved by heating the component to 150 +/- 5°C for 30 minutes. Apply second coat following the procedure as for the first coat. Repeat the operation until the required film thickness is achieved, flash off for 20 minutes, then stove at 185-195°C for 2 hours.
