Product Description -

A two pack, spray or brush applied, air drying or force dry intumescent coating for application to:-

Designed to be a more resistant and adhesive coat after being burned to resist high air movement over the intumesced coating. Supplied for use either brushing or spraying. Used on parts and sub assembly's of Airbus for doors of the A320, and A340 aircraft, on Eurocopter EC135, plus many parts of Rolls Royce engines including composites and control boxes

Approvals/References/Specs -

Complies with FAA 5 minute fire resistance test, being reviewed against 15 minute FAA fire proof test.

Performance -

With stands 180°C (360°F) 100 hours, and humidity when air dried and sealed for one week or force cured 30 minutes at 125°C (255°F) and sealed

3 Hours at 70°C Skydrol resistant - Pass Adhesion X Hatch - Pass
Withstands 1100°C burner test for 5 minutes when film thickness is at least 300 microns
Typical performance is demonstrated as follows:

Two 0.6² metre panels of 4 mm anodised aluminium, one coated with IP9189 using the described method and the other left uncoated. Both are pressurized to 5 p.s.i. An S.A.E 15 cm diameter propane burner (116350 BTU) is positioned 10 cm from the centre of each panel.

Application - APPLY FOR RPS 661/47

Air Dry

  1. Apply two coats wet on wet
  2. Air dry 1 hour
  3. Apply two coats wet on wet
  4. Air dry 24 hours minimum
  5. Apply Ipc 2-pack epoxy to 50 microns dft
  6. Leave 7 days at room temperature to obtain full cure.
  7. Apply for RPS 661/47

Force Dry

  1. Apply two coats wet on wet, air dry 30 minutes, then stove 30 minutes at 120ºC
  2. Apply two coats wet on wet, air dry 30 minutes, then stove 1 hour at 150ºC
  3. Apply 50 microns Ipc 2 pack epoxy allow to dry for 1 hour minimum
  4. Stove 30 minutes 125ºC for chemical and humidity rest.
