Product Description -

Heat resistant chromated primer for use either as a stand alone product or in conjunction with our IP9029 and PL163 as a system approved by Rolls Royce for protecting Magnesium against corrosion to temperatures up to 300ºC (570°F).

First used on the Rolls Royce Viper engine in 1997.

Performance -


This material passes the performance test for MSRR 9310, tests include:

  • 100 Hours at 300°C (570°F) dry heat
  • 100 Hours at 150°C (300°F) in Ester lubricants
  • 3 Hours at 70°C (160°F) in Skydrol
  • 100 Hours continuous salt spray
Application -


Spray application on wet coat to give a film weight of 50 to 85 grams per square metre. Flash off for 15 - 30 minutes then stove for 1 hour at 190°C (375°F). For maximum protection of Magnesium at high temperatures, use as primer coat with IP9029 and PL163 top coat. Apply for RPS 661/42
