IP Code No - PL163
OMAT No - 7/134
Product Description -
Highly resistant polyimide Stoving enamel with good heat, corrosion and aircraft fluid resistance. It is suitable for operating temperature of up to 300°C (570°F). Also used in conjunction with IP9310 and IP9029 for protecting magnesium running at 300°C (570°F) for example on the Viper engine. Brushing and black versions can be made to order.
It has been tested as resistant to 5 Kv at film thicknesses of approximately 80 microns.

Performance -
PL163 is tested to the following minimum specification, actual performance is far in excess of the following:
Application -
Degrease, abrasive blast and pre-treat as per individual specification. Heat the object to between 120 and 150°C (250-300°F) immediately prior to painting. Spray one coat on to a heated object, when the object temperature reaches 60°C (140°F) return it to the oven and reheat. The coating shall then be stoved by heating the component to 150 (300) +/- 51°C (40°F) for 30 minutes. Apply second coat following the procedure as for the first coat. Repeat the operation until the required film thickness is achieved, flash off for 20 minutes, then stove at 185 - 195°C (365 - 385°F) for 2 hours.
