Product Description - |

Dry film lubricant resistant to corrosive environments, skydrol, lubricants, fuels and operating temperatures of up to 700°C (1300°F), in areas of fretting and anti galling. Used for example on the marine RB211 and Rolls Westinghouse WR21. Protecting an internal satellite bush running at 500-550°C (930-1020°F), it is used at the turbine end in a variable geometry area to reduce friction. This material has been under test by NEI and National Power on massive nuts and bolts used in steam boxes as an alternative to high temperature thread paste graphite, etc as an anti galling material. They have currently undergone testing for a 1000 hours at 600°C (1110°F) with a water soak at 80°C (175°F) for a further 100 hours, with the result at PL181 appears to be the best material for a release agent in this area. Compared with 8 or 9 alternatives, including high temperature greases, PL181 came out the best and is currently undergoing a second application and test to the same exacting standards to establish whether bolts used, can be reused after application of this material The bolts were torqued up to 0.1% and then the bolts were checked for ease of release by measuring their release strain. |
