Ipex Exhaust coating system is designed for use on exhaust manifolds and piping and will impart exceptional corrosion resistance allied to temperature resistance up to 700°C.
Ipex exhaust coating is a two coat system based on the Ipcote/Ipseal inorganic sacrificial aluminium base/protective seal coat as widely used in aerospace and aero engine applications.
The sacrificial aluminium base coat provides corrosion and oxidation protection on iron, steel, heat treated stainless steel alloys; titanium and other metallic substrates at up to 700°C. In addition it will give 4000 hours hot salt spray to ASTM.B117 on mild steel scribed to metal without any corrosion in the scribe.
The black top/seal coat seals the inherent porosity of the sacrificial base coat without detracting from the sacrificial properties, creating an electrically non-conductive barrier coat. This results in a smoother, harder coating which provides a barrier against carbon deposits etc and extends the useful life of the system.
A further benefit of Ipex is its ability to be vibro polished to give very smooth surface finishes as low as 12 micro-inches. These smooth surfaces assist the flow of gases. Thus with Ipex applied as an internal coating on manifolds, headers and piping, the resulting increased gas flows reduce operating temperatures and increase engine performance.
Ipex has been thoroughly tested both under laboratory and field conditions as the exhaust coating by a major tractor manufacturer, and its exceptional performance in preventing corrosion and retaining its new look has seen it adopted as their standard exhaust coating.

Ipex exhaust coating is a two coat process.
Being inorganic and requiring specialist application, curing, peening and polishing methods it is recommended that it be applied by specialist applicators.
We have several approved applicators of Ipex throughout the UK; please consult us for your nearest.
