Recent developments to reduce VOC's with regard to the Rockhard range includes using a 2 pack low VOC solvent based variant (down to 180gms VOC when mixed).
Future developments include nano enhancing it.
Development; evaluation and testing of a new Rockhard Low VOC; lower environmental impact protective enamel to supercede existing product 576-450-002 for Hamilton Sundstrand ; Stratford Locks ; Connecticutt USA to specification HS 4675 and use on Aluminium heat exchangers.
Completed November 2006
Hamilton Sundstrand use Indestructible Paint's product 576-450-002 to protect their aluminium aircraft heat exchangers at temperatures up to 400sF 200sC.
Hamilton Sundstrand commissioned Indestructible Paint to research this product to see if it could be modified to retain its excellent anti corrosive and other properties, but develop it further to reduce its environmental impacts.
This report summarises the extensive Research and Development work involved in evaluating and testing of the experimental products.
The two new products detailed in this report were developed after extensive consultation with

Standards being tested to;
HS 4675 Rev H Type v. HS 3918 ; HS 14722 ; SP 0124.
This project was to evaluate the Rockhard clear sealer to reduce the percentage of volatile organic compounds used whilst retaining its sealing properties and maintaining or improving its physical and chemical properties.
The research work resulted in two formulae being accepted for qualification testing.
Laboratory code numbers;
i) LR 2124-034 and reducer LR 2127-034.
ii) LR 2126-034 and reducer LR 2129-034.

2 coats dip, both materials were mixed 1:1 parts by volume with reducer to give an application solid content of 20%.
Reducer: LR 2127-034 and LR 2129-034 Cure schedule: 1st coat 15 mins @ 180sC (360sF); 2ND coat 100 minutes @ 190sC (375sF)
The two laboratory samples have both passed the performance requirements of the relevant specification HS4675 Rev H Type v. At the application solid content when compared with the standard have shown a reduction of 30% V.O.C
