RYLARD
YACHT AND BOAT VARNISHES
VG612 FULL GLOSS (85-100 gloss UNITS)
(complies with the now obsolete Defence Standard Def Stan 80 – 63)
The best marine exterior varnish for all bright work, Rylard varnish has
as its greatest attraction ease of application, since its application is not
unduly affected by adverse weather conditions.
Rylard Varnish gives an exceptionally hard elastic film with a brilliant
deep durable gloss in the VG612 full gloss form. Gloss levels are variable according to the coding above, but only
certain products may be available in small cans. Any of the above gloss levels are available in 200 litre barrels.
Best results are obtained with Rylard Varnish especially on marine ply
or teak, when a sealer coat of equal parts, varnish and Rylard marine thinner
is applied to the bare wood, followed by three or four full coats of varnish
well flatted between coats with 400 wet or dry paper.
Rylard is the ideal varnish to apply as a protective coating to bright
work before laying up mid-season to protect bruises, and at all times for
interior bright work. Covering capacity
approx 660 to 760sq.ft per 5 litres 12.25 to 14.sq.mtrs per litre dependent
upon porosity of surface.
VG614 SEMI-MATT ( 30-35 UNITS)
Low gloss version of VG612 ideal for use as a cabin varnish or other
interior woodwork. Dries to a really attractive satin sheen that complements
the natural grains of timbers.
Best results are obtained by applying a sealer coat thinned with equal
parts of Rylard marine thinner followed by three to four coats applied at
supply viscosity. For best results flat each coat after dring with 400 wet or
dry paper.
